LOC in motion
Cui Z.
Semiconductor manufacturing techniques fabricate a lab on a chip (LOC) to manipulate fluids and molecules at a micron scale. The use of LOC technology is in the amplification of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) for analysis. A common amplification method is the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The speed of the amplification was limited by the instrument's mass and thermal inertia. LOC technology reduces the mass to shorten the heating cycles.
