Observation of a Bi-domain state and nucleation free switching in mesoscopic ring magnets

A well defined magnetic state in narrow magnetic rings, termed onion state, was found. The onion state was stable up to an average applied field strength of 435 Oe. At about 1000 Oe, the rings switched into the reversed onion state.
