Nucleophilic addition reactions to the cations [(η5-C5H5)Fe(COXPPh3)(=CROMe)]+ (R = H, Et) are highly stereoselective. The product diastereoisomers [(η5-C5H5)Fe(COXPPh3XCHEtOMe)] undergo epimerization in methanol prior to formation of (E) [(η5-C5H5)Fe(CO)-(PPh3XCH=CHMe)]. © 1984, American Chemical Society.
