Research exploits mouse genetics to investigate cell interactions underlying mammalian development and immune recognition. ES cell technology allows us to generate conditional mutations, knock-in alleles, perform cell marking experiments, and manipulate expression levels of key signalling molecules under physiological conditions in vivo.

Research Areas

  • TGFb signalling pathways in patterning the early body axis and in organogenesis

  • Transcriptional control of mesoderm induction and endoderm specification

  • Cell fate decisions governed by the zinc finger transcriptional repressor Blimp-1

  • Requirements for the molecular chaperones Ii chain and DM in guiding MHC class II antigen presentation
